Holiday Gift Guide

Click the image to see the GUIDE
As we are getting closer and closer to December I found it time to inform my readers about this guide. Inside there is a full and complete list of all the new products Teaopia has obtained for your holiday needs. Everything from hostess gifts to teacher gifts and at every price point.  As one of the many employees for this Canadian company I am very proud to help everyone who comes in gift hunting or even looking for a little something for themselves.
I have included images of the new additions to our gift collection, these are but a few of the new pieces we carry.    Starting from the far left we have the Kids Tea Set. This set has an adorable small tea pot with a built in filter and four cups with saucers. I love the fruit design that was chosen to accent them all.  Next, the new Matcha Set.  It comes with raku made chawan (tea bowl) and whisk holder, a 100 pronged bamboo whisk (chasen) , beautifully illustarated instructions and a bamboo scoop (chasaku). I have had the pleasure to meet someone who purchased the set in Alberta, she loves her lattes. Finally, The Hostess Gift. Really great for newbies or seasoned tea drinkers. It has card with instructions, rock sugar, basket infuser and four teas. Marrakesh Mint green tea, Burbon Vanilla black tea, Plum Oolong, and Solie De Provence white tea.
The best thing about these three are you can use them anywhere; office, home or even outside. Just add water~ Till next time.

Interview

Here is the interview done by Mrs. Tamires. She had a nice list of questions for me a while back and I eagerly replied to her. Anyhow, here is the final result.

Matthew Wocks Calendars to support the Tea Guild

At our last meeting (last Wednesday) we were informed that there still is some of these beautiful calendars available. Considering their nature these need to be taken to warm-tea-loving-homes soon.
Here is what the guild has to say about these beautiful pieces of art work:
"Tea Guild of Canada’s 2011 – 2012 (16 month) Calendar is available for purchase, though all Members get their first calendar free, as part of their membership. All the fantastic tea-related photographs were taken this past Spring in China by Matthew Wocks, who joined a team of tea experts as they embarked on a 19 day journey across China. The calendar is 30cm x 45.5cm, in full colour, and would make a great gift to any tea lover."

I own one myself and quite like the energy it brings to the room. I can put something together to mail these to anyone who is interested. They are 20$ CDN, not including shipping. If you are not in the area and want one or have any questions concerning the calendar drop me a line. Bellmanart at gmail DOT com
All proceeds go to the Tea Guild Of Canada.

Tao Tea Leaf- Bai Hao Oolong

When I first heard about Bai Hao I slowly began my search for it. The past it had with Queen Elizabeth and it's naming of "The Champagne of Tea" was welcoming. It was my second visit to Tao that I purchased this lovely tea. I had remembered how it tasted when it was brewed for me the first time and I longed to have it on hand.
At home I first brewed it with a gaiwan or a small infuser basket. Eventually I acquired a Yixing pot for it that replicates womanly beauty.   The leaves are lightly rolled long ways, a few open ones can be seen. Warm earthy hues make up the tea.

When it was brewed it had a consistent taste no matter the brewing. It was warm and sweet. It also created a salivating sensation. fuji apples, slight white peach is what I can pick up from it. Is is it the English name
or does this actually taste like warm alcohol free wine?
I quite adore this tea. I have had some before going out many times and it is very relaxing
Go on and try it~

Davids Tea- 1$ Orthodox Tea Promotion Part I

When leaving work on Friday I noticed that Davids was offering this promotion till November 14. Since the price was right I will be getting at least one tea each day (if I can).
  Korean Sejak -Green tea
       {No image available }
    White Peony- Green tea

Both teas were pleaseing in the mouth. Sejak kept me going back for more. It represented itself  as almost a Gyokuro.
White Peony was smooth, perhaps miss labelled or I forgot the correct name. It was not as creamy as I find Silver Needle but a nice alternative.

Till next time~

Documenting

I recently joined the South Asian Visual Art Centre to participate in a Artist Documentation Workshop. It was lead by Photographer Michael van Leur. He answered all our questions and walked us all through many different methods to document work, depending on the medium. With notes in hand this weekend is going to be filled with gallery openings and documenting of my own work.
I have to thank the wonderful D for lending me her tripod. Her work is very detailed and filled with spirit, which stretches over into her music as well. Once I am done with the tripod expect new work on her blog over at Ruin and Rebirth.
I'm off to tidy up so I can paint a wall white to assist with documenting. Till next time~
